Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy means "care by aromas". This term refers to the medical use of aromatic extracts from plants. Aromatherapy uses only the fragrant, volatile and ethereal fractions that are extracted from vegetables: the essential oils.
The essential oils are extracted from a part of the plant (flower, leaf, wood ...) by specific processes, the most common being that of steam distillation and mechanical expression for citrus zests .
Essential oils are known for their fragrancy and their pleasant characteristics. But above they also possess immense therapeutic powers. It is estimated that 80% of todays’ common pathologies could be treated by aromatherapy. The use of essential oils not only requires very precise know-how but also making sure to take the appropriate precautionary measures.
Aromatherapy is also widely used in Asian culture. It is combined with Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine.
In recent years, its exceptional properties have been recognized and frequently used in hospitals, dispensing chemists or simply at home for family purposes and needs. The field of application of essential oils is immense. Aromatherapy can be a great therapeutic support in many an ailment. There are essential oils that are: anti-infectious, anti-inflammatory, calming, tonic, respiratory, hypotensive, draining, circulatory, digestive, etc.
